Proclamation - Special/Primary - 09-13-1966M1 _ PROCLAMATION A PROCLAMATION PROVIDING FOR THE CALLING AND HOLDING OF A SPECIAL ELECTION AND A PRIMARY ELECTION, IF NECESSARY, IN THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA. WHEREAS, by resolution duly passed and adopted, the City Council has rescinded that certain proclamation passed and adopted on June 28, 1966, and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida has by resolution expressed its intent to change the date for the special city election to be held to fill the unexpired term of Mayor of the City of Edgewater, Florida. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA: 1. That Tuesday, September 13, 1966 be and the same is hereby fixed as special election day in the City of Edgewater, Florida, for the purpose of holding an election to elect a Mayor to serve on the governing body of the City of Edgewater, Florida for the balance of the present unexpired term of Mayor ending November 8, 1967, and a special election is hereby called for the 13th day of September 1966. 2. In compliance with the charter of the City of Edgewater, Florida, a primary election will be held on Tuesday, August 30, 1966 in the event that more than two candidates qualify for the office of Mayor. The two candidates receiving the greatest number of votes in the city primary election for the office of Mayor shall have their names printed on the ballot as cnadidates in the special city election to be held on the 13th day of September 1966. 3. That the registration books of said city shall be kept open according to the general election laws of the State of Florida. 4. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to post two copies of the notice of said election or elections in the most conspicuous and public places in the City of Edgewater, Florida, one of which shall be the bulletin board in the City Hall of said city. Said notices shall be posted not less than thirty days prior to the city election or elections. 5. Said election or elections shall be held in the Community Center of the City of Edgewater, Florida. 6. A certified copy of this proclamation shall be sent to the Supervisor of Registration, Volusia County, Florida. The above and foregoing proclamation was introduced at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida held on July 18, 1966, said proclamation being introduced by Councilman Cairnie who moved its adoption, which said motion was seconded by Councilman Walla and carried.
