83-O-11ORDINANCE NO. 83-0- It AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 2, ARTICLE II, SECTION 2-24(b), OF THE EDGEWATER CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, BY ELIMINATING THE REQUIREMENT IN THE VOTING ORDER THAT THE MAYOR'S VOTE BE COUNTED LAST; CONTAINING A REPEALER PROVISION; A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE: PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida, at a duly constituted meeting of April 191 1983, elected to amen Chapter 2, Article II, Section 2-24(b), of the Edgewater Code of Ordinances by eliminating the requirement in the voting order that the Mayor's vote be counted last; and NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA: Section 1. That Chapter 2, Article II, Section 2-24(b), of the Edgewater Code of Ordinances is hereby amended as follows: "(b)The presiding officer shall preserve strict order and decorum at all regular and special meetings of the Council. He shall state every question coming before the council, announce the decision of the council on all subjects and decide all questions of order, subject however to an appeal to the council, in which event, a majority vote of the council shall govern and conclusively determine such question of order. He shall vote on all questionsr-his ae�e-being-ea}}-}net. He shall sign all ordinances and resolutions adopted by the council during his presence. In the event of his absence, the vice -mayor or acting mayor shall sign ordinances or resolutions as they are adopted.."* (*Deleted items have been lined -through and new language underscored.) Section 2. That all ordinances, or parts of ordinances and all resolutions, or parts of resolutions, insofar as they are inconsistent or in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance, are hereby repealed. Section 3. If any section, part of section, paragraph, clause, phrase, or word of this ordinance is declared in- valid, the remaining provisions of this ordinance shall not be affected. Section 4. That this ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by the City Council and approval as provided by law. This ordinance was introduced by The first reading of the above ordinance was read in full, and passed by vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida, at themeeting of said Council, held on the day of n.n , 1983, and approved as provided by law.
