1. CONCRETE THRUST BLOCKS SHALL BE REQUIRED AGAINST
UNDISTURBED MATERIAL. WHERE TRENCH WALL HAS BEEN
DISTURBED, EXCAVATE ALL LOOSE MATERIAL AND EXTEND
� THRUST BLOCK TO UNDISTURBED MATERIAL.
2. ON TEES AND BENDS EXTEND THRUST BLOCK FULL LENGTH

GENERAL NOTES:
1. WATER LINE SHALL BE INSTALLED USING PVC C900.
2. WHERE THE WATER MAIN CROSSES THE SEWER MAIN, THE WATER MAIN SHALL BE AT LEAST
18 INCHES ABOVE THE TOP OF THE SEWER PIPE & SHALL BE LOCATED AT LEAST 10 FEET
HORIZONTALLY FROM PIPES CARRYING RAW WASTEWATER. WHERE THESE MINIMUM SEPARATIONS
CANNOT BE MAINTAINED THE SEWAGE MAIN SHALL BE ENCASED IN CONCRETE.
3. PROVIDE MINIMUM OF 30" PIPE COVER. WHERE MINIMUM OF COVER CANNOT BE MAINTAINED
THE WATER LINE SHALL BE ENCASED IN CONCRETE.
4. BEFORE BEING PLACED IN SERVICE, ALL NEW WATER MAINS SHALL BE CHLORINATED IN
ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROCEDURES OUTLINE IN AWWA C-651 "STANDARD PROCEDURE FOR
DISINFECTING WATER MAINS' .
5. ALL PIPE SECTIONS TO BE PRESSURE TESTED SHALL BE SUBJECTED TO A HYDROSTATIC
PRESSURE OF 150 PSI. THE DURATION OF EACH PRESSURE TEST SHALL BE FOR A PERIOD
OF 2 HOURS. IF DURING THE TEST THE INTEGRITY OF THE TESTED LINE IS IN QUESTION, THE
CITY MAY REQUIRE A 6 HOUR PRESSURE TEST. THE BASIC PROVISIONS OF AWWA C-600
SHALL BE APPLICABLE.
6. AFTER COMPLETION OF THE PRESSURE TEST, A LEAKAGE TEST SHALL BE CONDUCTED TO
DETERMINE THE QUANTITY OF WATER LOST BY LEAKAGE UNDER THE SPECIFIED TEST PRESSURE.
APPLICABLE PROVISIONS OF AWWA C600 SHALL APPLY.
ALLOWABLE LEAKAGE IN GALLONS PER HOUR FOR PIPELINE SHALL NOT BE GREATER THAN THAT
DETERMINED BY THE FORMULA:
